Jazz became a yoga teacher in 2010 and shares her love for this life long practice through public classes, private sessions, retreats and yoga teacher trainings. Every class is unique, guiding students to move creatively towards a peak, and offers levels for every body to feel supported. She teaches in the styles of Vinyasa, Hatha, Yin and Restorative while giving a glimpse into her other hobbies of study in functional movement, pilates, neuroscience, mindfulness and yoga philosophy.
Born and raised in a town called Yellowknife in the Canadian Arctic, Jazz grew up with a massive appreciation for the wild outdoors. Every day, her family would bundle up and brave any temperature to go play outside. Since then, movement was always a big part of her life, from playing varsity basketball in university through to discovering mountain biking, back country skiing and surfing while living in Vancouver BC. She found yoga after leaving basketball behind and discovering that she had to rewrite the relationship she had with her body.
Yoga gave her a place to fall hard and get back up again and it gave her a first look at what her purpose might be.
Jazz’s background as a teacher began in Costa Rica with her 200 Hour in Vinyasa Yoga with Frog Lotus and since then has completed several 300 Hour trainings with her teachers Clara Roberts -Oss, Janet Stone and also with her home studio in Vancouver, Semperviva Yoga College. She is continuing her studies in the arena of Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy in hopes of adding it to the tool box she can help others navigate this tricky human life with.
She moved to New Zealand in 2019 to build a little house in Arrowtown with her kiwi husband and when you can’t find her on the mat, you may just see her in the mountains exploring or attempting to grow a green thumb in her garden.
