Instagram post 2192382023589549904_1733981134 Meet Sierra! Nadi Wellness Yogini.

Originally from Seattle, Washington. She began her yoga journey in 2013 as part of her recovery regime for competitive distance running. After a couple serious injuries that put a hold to her running career she decided to travel outside the U.S. & experience the depth of other cultures and ways of living.

The first step was India mostly drawn by the vastness of the Himalayas and later in the trip stumbled into a Sivananda Ashram. It was there she started to learn much more about yoga than just the physical asana practice. She began to understand the greater purpose for asana, pranayama, and meditation. And thus began to integrate these practices more into her life throughout the next few years of travel and exploration. She began a daily dedication to her practice & realized she also wanted to start to share this journey with others.

In July 2018 she participated in her first 200hr teacher training with Yoga Bliss, Nusa Lembongan Indonesia where she learned to facilitate Ashtanga Half Primary Series, Vinyasa, Yin, and Restorative classes. Within the last year mostly teaching Vinyasa, Yin, and the umbrella of all practices, Hatha.

She recently participated in Sarsha Hope's Ecstatic Flow 100hr Advanced Teacher Training here in Queenstown, learning more about embodiment practices and free form movement. She is passionate about molding and combining all that she has learned & continues to learn, in a class that touches on all aspects of us - mind, body, spirit, soul.

She is also deeply inspired by nature and the outdoors as she feels nature is one of her greatest teachers.

Her main intention for students is that she wants empower you to discover your own ability to listen & heal yourself with the tools she can provide & the guidance she can authentically & humbly give.

Big love to @sb_espinal for sharing her passion for yoga with our community. Thank you! 🙏🏻❤️ Check out the Nadi Wellness schedule for her classes via the Linktree in our bio. #nadiwellness
Instagram post 2189415156533073941_1733981134 🙏🏻 ASANA - 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞?

By moving and shaping our physical body, we can open up space for stillness and rest. The mind can be triggered into stimulation when we have energy to burn so by breathing and integrating our asana practice before seated meditation, it allows for clear perspective and inner peace.

Ancient yogis knew this and cultivated their asana and pranayama practice for that intention, so one could sit with a quiet mind body connection, cleansed and at ease.

This is a great reminder that yoga is for anyone. Why? Because when you start to connect with your practice past the physical, you begin to understand it’s more than just creating beautiful shapes. It’s about embracing your highest Self and listening to your intuition with what your mind body connection really desires in your asana practice.

So if you can’t touch your toes, it’s not a big deal. It’s more about what asana / pranayama can I incorporate to connect with my inner state of peace ✌🏻 and being patient with yourself as that journey unfolds. In short, if you keep showing up for yourself on the mat, the asanas you’re in need of will intuitively show up for you.

Tip: If you’re new to Yoga or are looking to dive deeper, create space at the beginning and end (5 minutes or so) of your practice and check in with your state of mind. Keep it consistent and notice the energetic effect your practice has cultivated. Stay unattached to what arises each practice and listen to your inner guide to what your mind body connection deeply desires for a peaceful empowered state #nadiwellness

Damian has been a solid pillar to the Queenstown Community since his arrival. Sharing is love and skillsets from Ecstatic Dance DJ sets, Yoga and Wellness wisdom.

At Nadi Wellness, we are blessed with multiple community leaders similar to Damian with many skill sets and offerings to share with the health and wellness community.

This really puts Queenstown on the map as a wellness destination...And at Nadi we value community...empowering those around us and this mindset ripples in and out of Nadi Wellness as a whole.
We believe Queenstown is more than just a portal for extreme sports and it’s party atmosphere. We see more room for the area to breathe into a new space as a wellness hub with regular retreats, massage therapy, nature immersions and other wellbeing events amongst the mountains.

Watch this space team! We will be sharing more posts of key community members and Nadi’s team in the coming future. Thanks again for the wisdom Damian, and also big ups to @ciaranmcmeeken for creating this content 📸 snippet #nadiwellness
