About Salt Float Therapy

A high concentration of epsom salts are added to the water in the tank to allow your body to naturally float, and additionally, the water is kept at the same temperature as the body. What this does is makes it so you don’t have weight on any pressure points throughout your body, creating a sense of weightlessness, as well as reduces the influence of external sound, sight and touch, allowing you to relax every muscle of your body and get into a more meditative state.

Epsom salts are high in magnesium (a very important and essential mineral that we typically do not get enough of in our diet), which the skin absorbs during the float.  Magnesium lowers blood pressure, strengthens bone and teeth, promotes heart health and can relieve symptoms of menopause.

While it is perfectly safe to float daily, we find that the effects of float therapy can be enjoyed beyond the day of your session. Research has shown that 1-2 times a week provides the most benefits.

We recommend avoiding alcohol, caffeine or any stimulants 4-6 hours before your float to ensure nothing interferes with the relaxation process. We recommend having something small to eat 60-90 minutes beforehand so you do not become hungry during your session.

Nadi requests that you please reschedule your appointment to a different stage of your cycle.

Yes! If you do not shower after your float, you will develop a residual layer of salt on your skin from the salt water, which can be uncomfortable.

No! In fact, your skin will feel silky smooth afterwards, thanks to the epsom salts.

We recommend wearing nothing at all to assist with the sensory deprivation of the tank. However, you will still experience all the benefits of float therapy if you choose to float in a bathing suit.

If you have the go ahead from your GP/physician, then float therapy is a wonderful option for expecting mums.

We have staff members that clean the water between every float. Additionally, the water goes through a 15 minute filtering cycle between very float that prepares the float tank for the next floater.

Although drowning  is always a possibility in any activity that involves water, it is highly unlikely as your body will remain afloat due to the buoyancy of the water.

As the water in the float tanks is only 11 inches deep, and the body naturally floats due to the buoyancy of the water, no swimming experience is required in order to float at Nadi.
